CA Wildfire (California Wildfire Tracker)
Last updated: July 27, 2026 · Effective date: July 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Evgeniia Vorontsova ("we", "us", or "our"), an individual developer based in Serbia, collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the CA Wildfire mobile application (the "App") for iOS.

We have designed the App to collect as little personal data as possible. Please read this policy carefully. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

The App is published and operated by an individual developer:

Evgeniia Vorontsova
Individual developer (sole proprietor)
Serbia
Contact: kristina.fedorova2@icloud.com

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act as the "data controller" for any personal data described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

The App is built around a privacy-minimal design. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or other directly identifying information in order to use the App.

2.1 Location data

If you grant permission, the App accesses your device's approximate or precise location to show wildfires, alerts, and map information relevant to where you are. This is optional:

2.2 Purchases and subscriptions

The App offers optional paid features (Premium) through in-app purchases and subscriptions. These transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment card number or full billing details.

2.3 Wildfire data

Wildfire, perimeter, and alert data displayed in the App is retrieved from public data sources (such as government fire agencies). Requests to fetch this data may include technical information such as your device's IP address, which is standard for any internet request and is handled by the respective data providers, not stored by us for identification purposes.

2.4 Information we do NOT collect

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above only to:

4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

DataPurposeLegal basis
LocationShow nearby fires and center the mapYour consent (device permission)
Purchase / subscription statusProvide and restore paid featuresPerformance of a contract
Technical request dataDeliver wildfire data reliablyLegitimate interests

5. Third Parties and Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. The App relies on the following third parties strictly to provide its functionality:

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We share information with law enforcement or authorities only where required by law.

6. Data Retention

Because we do not operate user accounts or store your location on our servers, we retain no personal profile about you. Purchase records held by Apple are retained by Apple under its policies. Any local data (such as cached map or fire data and your settings) is stored on your device and is removed when you delete the App.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because the App does not maintain identifiable user records, the most direct way to exercise most rights is to revoke permissions in iOS Settings and delete the App.

You can also contact us at kristina.fedorova2@icloud.com and we will respond in line with applicable law.

7.1 California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. California residents have the right to know, delete, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Contact us at the email above to make a request.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the App. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Users

The App may be used worldwide. Data may be processed in countries other than yours, including by the third-party providers listed above. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here; your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Disclaimer — Emergency Use

The App provides wildfire information for general awareness only and may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate. Do not rely on the App for emergency or life-safety decisions. Always follow official guidance from local authorities and emergency services.
