This Privacy Policy explains how Evgeniia Vorontsova ("we", "us", or "our"), an individual developer based in Serbia, collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Markdown Converter mobile application (the "App") for iOS.

The App is designed so that your documents stay on your device. We collect as little personal data as possible. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

The App is published and operated by an individual developer:

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we act as the "data controller" for any personal data described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

The App is built around an on-device, privacy-minimal design. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or other directly identifying information in order to use the App.

2.1 Documents and files

The App converts documents you choose (for example Markdown, Word, PDF, HTML, EPUB, RTF, and OpenDocument Text) into formats such as Word, PDF, HTML, RTF, plain text, and images.

• Conversion, including OCR of scanned PDFs, runs on your device.
• We do not upload your documents to our servers. We do not operate a document-processing backend for this App.
• Files you import, export, or share remain under your control on the device (and in locations you choose, such as Files, Mail, or another app via the share sheet).

2.2 Optional remote images

If a document contains a remote image URL, the App can fetch that image when you turn on the optional, off-by-default "fetch remote images" setting. This is your choice:

• The setting is off by default.
• When enabled, the App requests the image from the URL already present in your document. It does not send the rest of the document to us.
• The image host (not us) may see a standard network request, which can include your device's IP address.

2.3 Purchases and subscriptions

The App offers optional paid features (Markdown Converter Pro) through auto-renewable subscriptions processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment card number or full billing details.

• We receive from Apple only the information needed to unlock and restore your purchase — for example, an anonymous purchase/transaction identifier and subscription status.
• Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and managed by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.

2.4 Local settings and free-use quota

The App may store small amounts of data on your device only, such as:

• Your conversion options (theme, page size, and similar preferences);
• A local count of the complimentary conversion included with the free tier, stored in the device Keychain so it is not easily reset by deleting the App.

This information does not leave your device and is not sent to us.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information described above only to:

• Convert documents you choose, on your device;
• Optionally fetch remote images when you enable that setting;
• Provide, restore, and manage in-app purchases and subscriptions;
• Enforce the complimentary free-tier conversion locally;
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

4. Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

5. Third Parties and Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. The App relies on the following third parties strictly to provide its functionality:

• Apple Inc. — processes App Store purchases and subscriptions, and provides the iOS platform, StoreKit, and on-device frameworks used by the App (including Vision OCR where applicable).
• Image hosts you choose — only if you enable remote-image fetching, the host of a URL already in your document receives a standard image request.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. We share information with law enforcement or authorities only where required by law.

6. Data Retention

Because we do not operate user accounts or store your documents on our servers, we retain no personal profile about you. Purchase records held by Apple are retained by Apple under its policies. Any local data (documents you save, preferences, and the free-tier count) is stored on your device and is removed when you delete the App, except that Keychain items may persist after deletion until you remove them or restore from a backup that includes them.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Because the App does not maintain identifiable user records on our servers, the most direct way to exercise most rights is to turn off optional settings, delete exported files you no longer need, and delete the App.

7.1 California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. California residents have the right to know, delete, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Contact us at the email above to make a request.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the App, including keeping document conversion on-device. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Users

The App may be used worldwide. Where a network request occurs (Apple purchases, or an optional remote-image fetch you enable), data may be processed in countries other than yours, including by Apple and by the host of a URL in your document. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here; your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
